The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update. Online Platforms Response Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration. The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces. It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance. Measurement Approach Modifications Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Shopper Experiences A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained. Manual Updates A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products". "Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained. Platform Context The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK. It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
