The exciting extra-inning matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 drew a total 51M watchers across the United States, Canadian, and Japan markets. MLB announced this marks the most-watched World Series finale after the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest secured over 27 million audience members on Fox Sports channels, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 edition final game between the Dodgers and Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a 16% improvement compared to the previous finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 ranked fourth, the fourth game was seventh, the fifth game was eighth, and Game 3 finished in 13th place.

International Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game drew 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English broadcast in the country since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest began at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12M. This came after the previous Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – recorded 13.1 million spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.
